Role Profile

The Head of Commercial Retail is accountable for driving commercial performance and people leadership across all brands within the Apparel & H&M Division in KSA.

The role owns the commercial agenda, ensuring strong sales performance through actionable commercial initiatives, aligned brand execution, and disciplined performance management. The position plays a pivotal role in connecting brands, fostering a collaborative community, and ensuring alignment between brand strategies and Alshaya priorities.

The role is responsible for people leadership, business delivery, and commercial governance, acting as a senior partner to brand, operations, and support functions while enabling sustainable growth across the division.

 

Key Performance Areas

Commercial & Business Performance

  • Own and drive sales performance across all brands, translating strategy into clear, executable commercial actions.
  • Lead divisional commercial planning, ensuring brand strategies align with Alshaya business priorities and market requirements.
  • Analyse trading, performance data and trends to identify risks, opportunities and improvement actions.
  • Drive growth through range direction, pricing, promotions and commercial initiatives, ensuring customer relevance and profitability.
  • Support delivery of business plans through disciplined forecasting, performance reviews and corrective action.

People Leadership & Organisation

  • Provide strong leadership across the division, ensuring capability, succession planning and talent development at senior and middle management levels.
  • Set clear expectations and performance standards, ensuring robust performance management and development practices are consistently applied.
  • Foster a people‑first culture, driving engagement, collaboration and accountability across brands.

Brand Partnership & Alignment

  • Act as a key commercial partner to brand teams, ensuring clarity of direction, alignment on priorities and consistency of execution.
  • Build and maintain a collaborative brand community, encouraging best‑practice sharing and joined‑up commercial thinking.
  • Ensure brand initiatives are aligned with Alshaya policies, processes and commercial frameworks.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with Operations, HR, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain and Support Functions to ensure seamless execution of commercial strategies.
  • Ensure all activity complies with company policies, local market laws and governance requirements.
  • Proactively identify risks and dependencies, escalating where required with clear recommendations.

Strategic & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion continuous improvement, using insight and benchmarking to raise commercial capability and standards across the division.
  • Contribute to longer‑term divisional strategy, growth initiatives and transformation projects.

Knowledge

  • Degree in Business, Commerce or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Significant experience in senior commercial or retail leadership roles within multi‑brand or large‑scale retail environments.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth, commercial initiatives and people performance.
  • Experience operating within complex, matrixed organisations and working across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations and the Middle East market.
