Role Profile:
This role supports Corporate Procurement, enabling the function to leverage procurement data for strategic decision‑making and operational efficiency. The role focuses on analysing and integrating large datasets to generate clear commercial insights, tell a compelling story with data, and provide actionable recommendations to sourcing teams and senior leadership. The analyst will support cost optimisation, supplier rationalisation, product consolidation, and performance management, while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and visibility of procurement data across the business.
The analyst will partner closely with sourcing teams and leadership to turn data into practical recommendations and meaningful action.
Integrate Data and Systems
Ensure procurement data (spend, suppliers, contracts, savings) is accurately captured, structured, and effectively utilised within business systems.
Optimise Processes
Use data insights to recommend and support improvements to procurement processes, reporting, and systems to enhance visibility, efficiency, and control.
Support Decision‑Making
Provide insight‑led analysis and recommendations that support sourcing strategies, prioritisation, and leadership decision‑making.
The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:
Data Collection and Analysis
- Gather large and complex procurement datasets from multiple sources including spend, supplier, contract, pricing, and savings data.
- Analyse data to identify trends, patterns, risks, and opportunities across categories and suppliers.
- Apply analytical techniques to generate insights that highlight cost savings opportunities, supplier rationalisation, demand or specification consolidation, and performance improvement.
Database Management
- Design, develop, maintain, and improve procurement databases and data systems including spend cubes, contract registers, and savings trackers.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, integrity, and auditability across all procurement data sets.
- Optimise data collection systems and procedures to improve usability, efficiency, and governance.
Reporting and Visualisation
- Produce regular and ad‑hoc procurement reports and Power BI dashboards for multiple stakeholder groups.
- Visualise procurement data using clear, insight‑led charts and dashboards that support decision‑making.
- Develop high‑quality presentation materials and PowerPoint decks that clearly communicate procurement insights and recommendations.
- Tailor reporting to different audiences, from detailed operational views for sourcing teams to concise, story‑driven SLT reporting.
Insight & Commercial Recommendations
- Translate data analysis into clear narratives and evidence‑based recommendations for sourcing teams.
- Proactively highlight opportunities related to cost reduction, supplier or product rationalisation, contract coverage, and compliance.
- Support sourcing teams with data‑backed scenarios and options to inform negotiations and sourcing strategies.
Collaboration
- Work closely with sourcing teams and cross‑functional stakeholders to understand data needs and business objectives.
- Partner with IT and other teams to improve data integration, reporting, and system effectiveness.
- Act as a trusted analytical partner to Procurement, supporting fact‑based decisions.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor procurement data quality and implement improvements where required.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security requirements, and internal controls.
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of procurement data including spend analysis, supplier data, contract data, and savings methodologies.
- Knowledge of database design, management, and data modelling principles.
Experience:
- Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience analysing large datasets within procurement, supply chain, finance, or a related commercial function.
- Experience working in a collaborative, stakeholder‑facing environment.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Ability to tell a clear story with data and make practical commercial recommendations.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python, R, or other relevant data analysis tools.
- Ability to explain data insights and recommendations to non‑technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills, with the ability to translate data and insights into clear, compelling, executive‑ready messages.
