The Head of Regional Technology leads a distributed team of 150+ technology professionals and manages a regional technology budget of ~8M KD

Delivering the regional technology strategy and operations for all stores, warehouses, and offices across MENA and CEE, Turkiye & UK markets. The role ensures operational excellence, drives innovation to simplify and bring efficiencies. Building the Cairo GCC as a regional technology hub while influencing core technology and service management to improve delivered services to stores and customers.

This is a senior executive responsible, reporting directly to VP Technology Operations, location is in MENA.

The Head of Regional Technology has authority over regional technology budgets, strategic planning, and implementation of major technology initiatives impacting the customer experience & colleague engagement in the stores, warehouse or office to enable them to do they work effortless

 

The below Key Performance Areas include but are not limited to:

 

Strategic Planning & Tactical Implementation

  • Shape the technology roadmap for Store of the Future, introducing advanced in-store hardware and solutions to enhance customer experience and drive Like-for-Like (LFL) growth.
  • Lead technology and operations project deployment and implementation across all markets, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes.

Operational Simplification & effectiveness

  • Define and implement technology and process standardization across MENA and non-MENA markets, ensuring alignment with global best practices.
  • Support store openings, new market entries, and brand expansions by delivering robust technology solutions and infrastructure readiness Across MENA/UK
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of emerging technologies for both MENA and Non-MENA Markets.
  • Drive initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity posture across retail environments and technology platforms.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance service quality, reliability, and responsiveness for all stores, warehouses, and offices.

Innovation to Operate for less & Grow the business

  • Lead initiatives for next-generation retail technologies, ensuring Alshaya stores remain at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Influence the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of core technology platforms and technology service management processes
  • Looks for ways to simply, automate and the operations to maximise workforce and simplify regional technology and the way we work

Team Development & Leadership

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and capability building across regional and global teams.
  • Create a culture across multiple markets of happy high performing colleagues where delegated authority is high through a culture of collaboration with an obsession for customers

Stakeholder Engagement, & Alignment

  • Bridge between Regional Technology Teams in CEE, Turkiye, & UK with C&T to ensure Business and technology operations requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for technology-driven customer engagement and revenue growth.
  • Partner with the Information Security team to support store security deployments, ensuring compliance with corporate security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate and implement cutting-edge solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the growth and enablement of the Cairo Talent Office, building bridges between Customer & Technology (C&T) teams and other talent hubs in UAE, Kuwait, and Bangalore.

 

Technology Solutions to enable Customer First

  • Champion front-end technology solutions that elevate the customer experience in stores, covering POS systems, self-checkout, RFID, smart fitting rooms, CCTV, footfall analytics, and other innovations.

Asset & Financial Management

  • Lead ITAM implementation and manage the daily asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement of IT assets across all markets.
  • Ensure accurate inventory tracking and optimization of hardware resources to support operational efficiency.

 

Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of enterprise IT operations, infrastructure, and service management.
  • Expertise in building and managing distributed technology teams, including offshore talent centers.
  •  Knowledge of technology trends, digital transformation, and innovation in retail or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in international markets.

 

Experience:

 

• 10+ years in technology leadership roles, preferably in multinational organizations.

• Proven track record of managing technology operations across multiple countries.

• Experience establishing or scaling offshore/nearshore technology centers.

• Demonstrated success in leading large, diverse teams and complex projects.
