Job Profile:

The Payroll Manager manages day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing and compliance with laws and regulations. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, solid payroll management know-how, and high accountability.

Accountabilities (but not limited to):

Payroll Processing:

  • Manage day-to-day payroll operations.
  • Resolve payroll issues and discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • knowledge of payroll systems and procedures.

System Management and Improvement:

  • Implement changes in the payroll system to support and ensure effective implementation of system changes.
  • Identify areas and Implement process improvements.
  • Oversee maintenance and functionality of payroll software.

Reporting:

  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits.
  • Track budgets and report variances to senior management.
  • Use performance management systems to enhance personal and team performance, taking corrective actions as needed.

Compliance:

  • Create and implement guidelines and protocol to ensure regulatory compliance and good financial practices.
  • Investigate incidents using regulatory processes to solve compliance issues and advise on complex problems.
  • Maintain compliance to achieve financial control outcomes within local laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular payroll audits.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Explain local payroll action plans in relation to broader organizational goals and motivate teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Supervise payroll staff and provide training.
  • Develop & Coach the team ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.

Job Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of payroll management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Competent user of office software, Payroll software, HRIS.
  • Proficiency in payroll software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential & sensitive information.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Competencies – Functional (job specific):

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance including the ability to manage adherence to legal standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong abilities to examine payroll data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective measures.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address payroll-related issues promptly and efficiently. Identifying root causes of problems and developing practical solutions.
  • Confidentiality: A high level of integrity and discretion to handle sensitive employee information with confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
  • Communication Skills: Effectively liaise with employees, management, and stakeholders. This includes the ability to explain complex payroll concepts in an understandable manner.
